Frequently asked questions.
Where is the magic forge?
It is in Arizona. Yes, we have a physical location that phases in and out of reality in NE Arizona. We’re so close to New Mexico our clock changes when we go to the well to get water.
How hot is it there?
You would be surprised how many people are concerned with the temperatures out here. We are at about 6000ft elevation, so it stays slightly breezy and the hottest this summer has gotten is in the high 90’s. Yes it snows and gets cold during winter. It’s a desert, so extreme shifts between night and day.
Is the magic forge off-grid?
We are off-grid. No grid can find us. We run off of some generously given generators and one solar panel attached to a battery. We did build a little ghibli style cabin to reside in until we build a more fantastic permanent structure. Water comes from a community well. We live in a land time forgot, in a fairytale of interesting characters, and have made our own little Wonderland.
Can I come visit?
Patience. Not quite yet. Artists and apprentices are the only visitors allowed for this first year. We will have virtual tours of our installations and interactions online until we can have small, exclusive showings. If you are interested in visiting as an artist and collaborating or you think being an old time apprentice would look excellent on your college application, please reach out. We make wishes come true, just ask the beans.
How do you make brick?
Great question! There’s a goofy how-to video about how we make adobe brick on Tiktok and YouTube. It’s sand, straw, clay and water. Mix well, slap it into a mold. Really slappa-da brick. Then pull away mold, and Voila! One brick. Let cure 3 days or place in a kiln for quicker results. Now build a castle! You can do it!
Are you guys serious?
Never! What a silly cupcake question.
Can I send things to the forge?
Yes! we have only succeeded due to the generosity and awesomeness of our online following. We have materials being donated since all of our art and even our lives are being created from recycled and upcycled materials. Since no delivery vehicle will brave our territory the address for regular sized packages are:
P.O. Box 134 Saint Johns, AZ 85936
or
1200 W Cleveland, Suite 9 Saint Johns, AZ 85936
