“Our instinct may be to see the impossibility of tracking everything down as frustrating, dispiriting, perhaps even appalling, but it can just as well be viewed as almost unbearably exciting. We live on a planet that has a more or less infinite capacity to surprise. What reasoning person could possibly want it any other way?”
— Bill Bryson, A Short History of Nearly Everything
AmateUr archeology.
While humming the Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park’s theme songs (thank you John Williams), we at the magic forge have searched around the property and have found some surprising things. Amongst the dark Seussical trees, we discovered a hunter/gatherer site, lightening stones, old animal bones and even some magical items.
Whimsydale Ruins
A 5000+ year old hunter gatherer site was found on the forge property. We have an intriguing neighbor who is much like a cross between Crocodile Dundee and Steve Buscemi with an appetite for artifacts and archeology. With his help, we determined around the time of the settlement (5,000 to 6,000 years ago), which appears to have been a vacation spot or temporary settlement that was revisited often. We’ve found tons of nappings, coral, manos and Metates. Half of and axe was one of the dragons favorite finds.
Troll teeth and other rocks
We have agate, jasper, jet, quartz, granite, amber, garnet, and so many rocks! With the luck of his grandfather’s rock hounding hat, the dragon has found all sorts of hidden gems. Each piece elicits an ohh and ahh reaction. Some even glow in the dark!
Arrowheads
We have found arrowheads made from petrified palm wood, stone, and more. From bits and pieces to the whole shebang, there have been a few stunning arrow heads from across the centuries. Some only 2000 years old to a few dating back to when this was lakeside property 6000 years ago.
Hag Stones
Mythology would tell you that if you look through a hag stone it will aide you in looking through any witchcraft, fae magic, or otherworldly illusions. We found so many hollowed out stones there was no doubt it was a mystical place a some point. Then we found the Magic Beans.
